Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I am writing to update you on our ministries during this time of concern. The most recent White House guidelines ask that there be no gatherings greater than 10 people for the next 15 days. So, in order to honor our biblical mandates to respect our governmental leaders and to love our neighbors well, we will be adjusting how we do our ministry together for the time being. We will be re-evaluating the situation and updating you often. It is likely that this schedule will continue through the
rest of March.
Our worship will be livestream only. We will have one service of worship on Sunday at 10am, which will be livestreamed from our sanctuary. You can access the livestream here or on Facebook Live.
Sunday School - Sunday School for all ages is cancelled.
Children & Youth Ministries -
These ministries, including Club 4-5, youth life groups, and youth worship will not be meeting on campus.
Students … keep an eye out for word about virtual meetings! C2C Spring Break Camp will still meet next week but stay on campus.
Food Service Events -
Sunday Morning Gathering is cancelled.
Wednesday night Lift Dinner and Classes will not be meeting.
Thursday morning Men’s Devotional Breakfast will not be meeting.
Thursday Ladies Devotional Lunch will not be meeting.
Weekly Gatherings -
Life Groups and other small groups will meet at the leader’s discretion.
Our Salvation Army lunches have been moved to carry-out only. Our food sacks are being distributed through the Salvation Army as VBE is not in session. We had a great response on Sunday to the invitation to join a short-term mission team to take groceries to people who are vulnerable, in self-quarantine or isolation. Details about this ministry will be going out to the volunteers shortly. Please contact us at the church office if you need help. We will also be available to help others you might become aware of, such as a neighbor.
Supporting our church will take more intentionality now. I am not worried - our church family is an awesome,
devoted and generous gathering of Christ-Followers. Of course, you can send your offering to the church office. We are also able to receive online donations here.
Daily Word -
Beginning tomorrow, I will be posting a short daily video devotional to the church’s Facebook page,
to help keep our eyes on Jesus in the midst of this storm. We will also text out a link to the video.
And, let me say finally, that I know this is a very concerning situation. I know people are at various levels of anxiety about this virus and its impact on our lives. I really do get it. But don’t forget that we are not in this boat alone. The One whose name is above every name - greater than the name covid-19 and recession and even death! - Jesus is our Rock and our Redeemer. There is no river that will overwhelm us, no fire we will walk through alone. He has called US by name, and we are his. Rest in His Arms. Let’s show our community and our world what the peace, love and compassion of Christ looks like.
May God bless you and keep you.
