Operation love your neighbor day

February 10, 2018 is Operation Love Your Neighbor Day!

Operation Love Your Neighbor (OLYN) is a one day ministry outreach event that involves our entire church family.  Whether young or old, able or homebound, we each have a role to play on Operation Love Your Neighbor day.  

Here are the Ministry Teams that we have planned:

  • Samaritan Center - Indoor painting – Sleeping Room, yard debris clean-up, pressure washing, spreading mulch in play area
  • Hibiscus Children’s Center - Landscape front areas, spread mulch, plant ornamental shrubs
  • Our Father’s Table  Soup Kitchen - Replace wood paneling, molding and trim, paint dining room paneling
  • United Against Poverty (UP) - Clean and organize the shelves in the member share grocery store
  • Habitat for Humanity - Painting, landscaping and caulking
  • Wabasso UMC Fellowship Hall - Paint the interior walls of the Fellowship Hall
  • Shining Light Garden with Crossover Mission - Planting, weeding and harvesting vegetables
  • Prayer Group - Praise and prayer for OLYN ministries, FUMC family, community, nation.  Prayer teams will receive direction via a prayer syllabus.
  • Valentine’s Day Cards - Assemble faith based Valentine’s Day cards and deliver cards to adult care facility residents
  • Baker's Needed! Cookies for Police & Fire Stations - Containers for the cookies will be provided at the sign up table.  Please bring the cookies to Wesley Hall on Friday, February 10.  Thank you for your willingness to provide a "taste" of our appreciation for the civil servants that protect and serve our community.
  • Deliver Cookies to Police & Fire Stations - Deliver cookies to civil servants (18 locations in Indian River County - five City and County Police Stations and thirteen County Fire Stations). 
  • Food Sack Set-Up - Prepare and arrange food items for OLYN Day food sack assembly (work to be done on Friday, February 10th from  9:00 AM to Noon)
  • Food Sack Packing - Food sack packing, bagging and storing in food sack room (work to be done on OLYN Day, February 11th from 9:00 AM to Noon)
  • Women’s Refuge Center - Yard clean-up, landscaping and painting
  • The Arc of Indian River County - Cleaning and organizing the arts and craft room

OLYN SCHEDULE on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 10:

  • Sign In in the lobby of the CLC between 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM  
    Your team leaders will be there to answer any questions you may have. Then you can pickup your t-shirt at the designated table.
  • Enjoy a free Breakfast made by our fantastic Food Services Director, Mary Lou.  Please have a seat with your team so you can meet and get to know those on your team.
  • Gather for Prayer in Sanctuary at 8:45 AM 
    There will be a brief time of prayer led by our Pastor Jeremy Rebman.  

  • Love Your Neighbor Team Mission Project
    By 9:00 AM you will be heading out to do your OLYN team project 
  • Post Pictures of your Mission Project on Facebook or pass them onto your OLYN Leader.  Use hashtag #OLYN when you post - this way you can go to this page later and see everyone's work!

Sunday Morning Celebration of OLYN
Please wear your t-shirt to church on Sunday morning, we will be celebrating OLYN during our worship services at 8:30, 9:45 and 11:00 AM.
